A nice starting point is Blog Perfume - themes, which has one theme listed after another with short, to the point descriptions, including pricing details - free or not and the link to the authors site.
A Second great place would be Smashing Magazine’s - 83 Beautiful Wordpress Themes You (Probably) Haven’t Seen which provides a quick view with preview and author links of 83 specifically selected themes deemed better then most
A third is one by wpsnap, offers nice snapshot views of themes
That will definitely keep you busy for hours if not days, oh and we cant forget to mention the not so friendly but main repository from wordpress. Only in that it is not that easy to search beyond its limited filters.
After you get what you like image wise, you might want to then find the best plugins for your needs. If you are new and are not sure what you need, you will soon find out some idea of what you want and or need.
